Rift-sawn oak kitchen with linear island, Toronto

A long galley kitchen in rift-sawn white oak — twin islands, a full-height pantry and appliance wall, and a floating oak bar facing the garden. Captured during installation in Toronto.

Overview

A long open-plan kitchen running the length of the house, anchored by twin oak islands and a floor-to-ceiling pantry and appliance wall in rift-sawn white oak. Slab fronts with continuous vertical grain, no handles, push-to-open and finger-pull throughout — the cabinetry reads as quiet timber volumes against white walls and a soft oak floor.

A second floating volume in oak sits in front of the garden glazing, with an open shelf cut into its end and integrated drawers. A single linear LED pendant runs the length of the island. Bulkheads, recessed lighting and HVAC are coordinated into the architecture so nothing competes with the wood.

Built in the atelier and installed on site over several days. Photos here are from the install — protective film, dust masks and toolboxes still in the room as cabinets, drawers and fronts are dialled in.
