Oak wall unit with guest bed, Comporta
A continuous oak wall built for a large family house in Comporta — open shelving, closed storage and a concealed queen guest bed off the play room, so extra friends can stay without giving up the pool-side rhythm of the house.
Bed down, ready for weekend guests
Overview
The owners have a generous house in Comporta with a play room and pool, and they wanted one more place to sleep without building another bedroom. We drew a full wall of oak along the play room — open shelving for books and games, closed cabinets for towels and pool things, and a queen murphy bed tucked behind a flush panel in the middle.
By day the wall reads as joinery, not a bedroom. When weekend guests overflow the main suites, the panel drops down in a single fluid movement and a proper bed appears, made up and ready.
Every reveal is set to the same 4 mm shadow gap; the wall reads as one piece even though it holds four functions. Scribed to the ceiling and skirting on site over three days, in solid European oak finished with hardwax oil.
