Solid oak shelving — joinery study
A close look at the joinery beneath an everyday shelf: through-tenons, hand-cut shadow lines, no metal where wood can do the work.
Solid oak shelving — joinery detail
Overview
We share this detail because it's where the work lives. The shelf passes through the upright as a through-tenon, wedged from the side. There is no bracket, no screw, no glue carrying weight.
Done well, a joint like this outlasts the building it's installed in. Done badly, it sags within a year. The difference is half a millimetre — and that's the difference we sell.
