Marble island & oak base

A single block of veined marble crowns a hand-built oak island — the room's gathering point, sized for cooking, eating, and lingering.

Kitchen island with marble countertop

Overview

We were asked for an island that would carry a heavy slab of marble, hide a fridge and second sink, and still feel light in the room. The answer was a wide oak base on a slim recessed plinth, so the stone reads as if it's floating.

All drawers and doors are flush, with no visible hardware — every front opens on a hand-fitted finger-pull. The marble was selected together with the owners at the quarry; the seam is hidden under the cooktop.
